Why Students Choose SY2?

Why Shenyang No. 2 High School Sino-Canadian Program?

The Sino-Canadian Program that Shenyang No. 2 High School (SY2) offers is a program that subsists within Shenyang No.2 High School. Those who attend this program and complete it, do not only receive a Canadian high school diploma, but they also obtain their Chinese high school diploma as well. The two curricula offer the students a choice of either applying to any western university of their choice or attending a notable Chinese university.

Shenyang No. 2 High School boasts in its ability to produce graduates who are successful in entering western universities. The first graduating class was produced in 2010. Every student from that class was able to enter a Canadian university. In the subsequent years, 90% of the graduating students were accepted into Canadian universities, while the remaining 10% entered universities from the USA, Australia, and the UK. These statistics prove that students attending SCC are on par with their North American counterparts, thereby making the program exceptionally successful in achieving its objectives and aims. Once in university, our students are able to survive and do exceptionally well in their academic pursuits.

This degree of success can only be attributed to the expertise of the staff at the Shenyang No. 2 High School. All teachers are certified from Canadian universities and have extensive experience in their individual subject fields. Moreover, the administrative routine provides the students with maximum efficiency in time-management. Aside from academic success, SY2 students are also prepared to engage other aspects of post-secondary education such as self-expression and social decorum.

Welcome Alumni

Shenyang No. 2 High School (SY2) welcomes its alumni warmly. Alumni include previous graduates as well as staff and faculty members who were once part of the program. SY2 has always welcomed previous graduates who wish to come back and give their testimonials for the wonderful time they have spent here.

If you are an alumni, you can browse this section of the website and look back at your experience here at SY2 . You can also get in touch with your classmates, share your pictures or update old friends with your latest news.

Speakers are invited to give a speech during the Opening Ceremonies at the beginning of the year and the Graduation Assembly at the end of the year. If you wish to participate in these, please feel free to contact and notify the school administration. Moreover, alumni are encouraged to remain in contact for any advice they may be able to offer our current students and make their transition easier. They could also instruct and coach our students re their course selection and career options.

Staying in touch will have a twofold advantage.

First, it will revive your precious high school memories at SY2. Second, it helps our students make informed choices about their post-secondary education and future plans.

Graduates

The Graduation Class

After three years of hard work, the Graduation Class finally graduated. Most of them were admitted into several of the most selective universities in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and some in the United States of America. Many students were awarded university scholarships.

We currently have a 100% success rate in obtaining a “Study Permit” for each of our graduates to go abroad to study in these foreign countries.

Despite the struggle of having to put up with Covid issues for this year’s (2022) graduating class, the Counselling Department working overtime in Shenyang No.2 High School has already received admission letters from many famous universities in the world.

Compared with the same period in previous years, Shenyang No. 2 Sino Canadian HS received earlier, more quantity and better-quality university offer this year. As of February 20, 2022, a total of 235 offers have been received, of which 9 were admitted to McGill University ranked first in Canada and the top 30 in the world; 24 were admitted to the University of Toronto, ranked second in Canada, and top 50 in the world; 44 were accepted to McMaster University, Canada’s fourth-ranking global university. In addition to Canada’s topranking universities, our students also received offers from other postsecondary schools globally such as  Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kindom and the United States of America.

There have been other breakthroughs in Shenyang No. 2 Sino Canadian HS admissions this year: The University of Toronto (37) and McMaster University (45) reached record numbers. Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario) has admitted 45 students to their school, placing our school in second place in the number of students accepted in the university. The Ivey Business school and the Rotman School of Business, both renowned for their academic prestige and rigorous admissions process, have also offered our students an olive branch this year, with two students each admitted to the two top business schools in the world. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ranked 66th in the QS World Rankings in 2022, also admitted five of our students in the year 2022.
