The dual program is for Chinese Students who are writing the Chinese National exam, receiving the Chinese diploma\u00a0 <\/span>and completing the requirements for the Nova Scotia High School diploma.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>

The recommended course load of Nova Scotia Public School Program (PSP) courses in the dual Diploma program is <\/span>19 courses. <\/span>(13 required courses; 5 Nova Scotia course electives and 1 Chinese credit Physical Education transfer as a minimum).<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>

The following are the minimum course load requirements for the Nova Scotia Diploma \u2013Dual Program:<\/span><\/p>

– Grade 10 Students must register for a minimum of 5 Nova Scotia courses,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

(3 courses in Semester 1 and 2 courses in Semester 2)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

(This leaves space for 1 Chinese PE course and 1 Chinese course)<\/span><\/p>

– Grade 11 Students must register for a minimum of 6 Nova Scotia courses,<\/span><\/p>

(3 courses in Semester 1 and 3 courses in Semester 2).<\/span><\/p>

(This leaves space for 2 Chinese courses)<\/span><\/p>

– Grade 12 students must enroll in a minimum of 6 courses per year, 3 each semester.<\/span><\/p>

Recommended: 20 weeks (70 minute classes) = 116 hours per credit<\/span><\/p>

Required Courses: 18 credits are required to graduate, 13 of which are compulsory<\/span><\/p>

The following 13 compulsory credits are required for graduation:<\/span><\/p>

  • 3 English Language Arts —- English 10, 11, 12;<\/span><\/li>
  • 2 Mathematics —- Math 10; Math 11;<\/span><\/li>
  • 2 Sciences (a \u201cfirst science\u201d credit and 1 other) —- Science 10; Chemistry 11;<\/span><\/li>
  • 1 Fine Arts —- Drama 10<\/span><\/li>
  • 1 Canadian History —- Canadian History 11<\/span><\/li>
  • 2 other credits from Technology, Mathematics or Science —- Physics 11; Chemistry 12;<\/span><\/li>
  • 1 Global Studies — Global Geography 12;<\/span><\/li>
  • 1 Physical Education (Chinese Transfer Credit)<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
